The Collared Brown lemur is, as it's name suggests, mainly brown,
witha darker brown tail and pale brown/gery underneath. Orange/red
eyes are stare out from the face, which like the muzzle and forehead
are dark grey . A dark stripe can be seen down the centre of the
back. A bushy "collar" of fur around the face blends
from a creamy colour nearest the face to red/brown at the outside.
Females differ with browner upper parts and a less bushy "collar".
Feeding mainly on fruit, seeds, leaves, flowers and buds, this
lemur will also eat insects and small birds.
Young (normally one but occasionally two) are born in the spring
months after a gestation period of between 120 and 135 days. Only
the female lemurs take any part in rearing the young.
They are found in the south-eastern forests of Madagascar
